Antigua, known locally as Wadadli (also the name of the local beer), is famous for its sugar white sand and crystal clear waters. If you wanted to stay for a whole year you could still visit a different beach every day! With welcoming locals and great cuisine, head to Antigua to unwind at one of its beautiful resorts. Head up to Shirley Heights to take in the sounds of the wonderful steel drum band at sunset and gaze down at the beautiful natural harbour below. Waterbabies will be in heaven with the abundance of activities to do both on and under the water.
Barbuda is Antigua’s smaller, more serene sister. Seemingly trapped in a wondrous timewarp, the island can easily be explored by bike (as Emma did) from the one central village, Codrington. Due to laws in place not allowing non-Barbudans to build on the island, it is wonderfully quiet and you may well find yourself with an entire beach to yourself – pure heaven!
