AUSTRALIA & PACIFIC
If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime destination, Australasia is the place to go. Arty cities, iconic opera houses, beach babes and surf dudes, not forgetting the adventure capital of the world! The Reef is just the beginning…
Australia is such a vast and diverse country, full of adventure and exciting activities. One day you may find yourself taking photos of the iconic Sydney Opera House, then another you could be watching in awe as the setting sun changes the colours of Uluru (Ayers Rock) into deeper and deeper reds. Talking of reds, maybe you’d prefer to be quaffing a selection of wines in the Hunter Valley wine region. Or how about snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, after taking a tour of the jaw-dropping Great Ocean Road in a campervan? From nature’s paradise of Tasmania to the ‘Top End’ of Australia, the possibilities are endless Down Under.
With over 300 islands, this archipelago hidden deep in the South Pacific is awash with dazzling sands, turquoise waters and tropical scenery. The Coral Coast is perfect for waterbabies, with scuba diving, snorkelling and surfing popular activities. Fijians are known for their warm-hearted nature so come and meet them on the main island of Viti Levu, a great base to get a feel of the culture.
New Zealand is one of the best places on this planet to visit.
Rosie and I have been to more than 50 countries and New Zealand is our favourite. The two islands together are roughly the size of Britain but there are only about ten per cent of the number of people living there. This means that the roads are empty and the whole way of life is so much calmer. The scenery is simply out of this world. Every time you drive around a corner you cannot help but say “Wow, look at that!” and then you go around the next corner and say the same again and so it continues for your whole holiday.
There is so much to see. In NORTH ISLAND there is Auckland – the City of Sails, where a boat trip around the huge natural harbour is a must. Then there is the spectacular Bay of Islands and Coromandel Peninsular on which you will find Hot Water Beach. At low tide you can dig yourself a hot water Jacuzzi on the beach because there are the remains of a volcano 200 metres below the sands and hot water bubbles up. There are the mud baths of Rotarua and so much more.
In SOUTH ISLAND there is the spectacular Abel Tasman National Park with scenery which will take your breath away. Also at the Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers you can either walk to the base or take a helicopter ride to the top and go Heli-Hiking with crampons on. The glacier moves two meters a day so the caves which are formed today are gone tomorrow. The blue/green colour of the ice is a photographer’s dream. Then there are the ‘Sound’s or fjords as we might know them, which simply can’t be missed. If you add to that the lakes, jet boating, sky diving (if you are that brave) then there really is something for everyone in New Zealand.
